In reply to Holly Duncan Smelzer regarding the appropriateness of the shuttle suit: Morton Thiokol, a private company, has been guilty of placing the lives of the shuttle crew in jeopardy despite repeated warnings from some of its employees that the O-rings sealing the rocket cases posed a hazard.

The shuttle was not just a military vehicle but was engaged in private commerce in placing satellites in space for the benefit of the private sector.
