LAWSON PRODUCTS INC. said its net income in the second quarter increased 42.6 percent, to $5.7 million, or 39 cents a share, from $3.9 million, or 27 cents a share, a year earlier.
Sales for the Des Plaines-based manufacturer increased 13.8 percent, to $41.7 million from $36.6 million.
First-half net income climbed 51.5 percent, to $10.5 million, or 72 cents a share, from $6.9 million, or 47 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Sales increased 14.3 percent, to $79.9 million from $69.8 million.
The net income per-share amounts reflect the 3-for-2 stock split in the form of a stock dividend that was paid April 18 to stockholders of record April 4.
