Reversing a four-year slide, the City Colleges of Chicago increased its spring term enrollment in college-credit courses by 3 percent over last year, officials announced Monday. They said 30,536 students signed up for courses during the registration period in January, an increase of 886 over last year. Board Chairman Reynaldo P. Glover and Chancellor Nelvia Brady attributed the gain to improved marketing and recruitment and simplified registration procedures. Registration totals for noncredit courses were not available, but another 50,000 or so students normally sign up for them each term.
