Orland Park has approved a $40.6 million village budget for the next fiscal year, but only after trimming more than $290,000 in proposed outlays.
The Village Board voted unanimously Monday to approve the budget, which represents a slight decrease from the current one.
But before doing so, trustees cut $62,000 from the Economic Development Department, which had requested $280,277. The officials said the village must rethink its strategy for attracting commercial and business development.
The board also reduced proposed expenditures for various consultant fees and cut $200,000 for improvements to 162d Street. The project is being delayed a year because the village has several street projects under way.
