If you`re in the market for some quirky dance music, this outing by the Swiss team of vocalist Dieter Meier and composer-engineer Boris Blank just might fill the bill. The pair, helped here by some friends, draws on some fairly normal instrumentation-including funk guitar, horns and Latin percussion-but ends up with a sound that`s definitely eccentric. At one moment their blend of sharp, infectious dance rhythms and surreal lyric imagery can be infused with a kind of threadbare Continental charm suggestive of an encounter at a low-rent gambling casino. At another it swirls and eddies with a Middle-Eastern feel. Meier and Blank are at their best on cartoonish songs of romance such as ”Of Course I`m Lying,” with its whispered interjections of ”I love it.”
