”Twenty years ago the Arab-Palestinians always said `no` to Israel-no recognition of Israel, no negotiations for peace, no ending of the war.
”Twenty years later it is now the other way around. The Israelis are always saying `no` to the Palestinians-no recognitions of the PLO, no negotiations for peace, no ending of the war.”
I am not the author of this comment-I cannot recall who said it-but it is unfortunate that approximately 20 years ago the Palestinians were wrong and today the Israelis are wrong. Tomorrow? Let us hope there will be a ”yes”
answer that will end the bloodshed and injustice.
Are people too caught up in the catchy slogan, ”Just say no”? That may be valid advice for teenagers when offered drugs, but is it an appropriate response to an offer of peace in the Middle East?
