Permit me to disagree with your editorial, ”The flag and the thought we hate” with its endorsement of Justice Brennan and the majority opinion of the Supreme Court.

I think there is more at stake here than our Constitution and even the ideals of the United States, which I dearly love. That is, the idea that free men can rule themselves without disintegrating into anarchy leading to despotism.

Brennan and his majority colleagues have given anarchy a great boost. There is no such thing as unrestricted freedom. The term for such action is license, which is the abuse of freedom and leads to its destruction.

Brennan`s silly excuse that we who love the flag should stand by waving it while others burn it is too fatuous to deserve a rely. Excessive tolerance is not tolerance at all, but merely a dereliction of duty.
