A new two-year teachers contract in East Maine Elementary District 63 will provide a 4 percent across-the-board salary increase the first year, plus a one-time 2 percent bonus payable in December, Barbara Korb, head of the teachers negotiating committee, said Wednesday.
The district`s school board unanimously ratified the contract Tuesday night; the teachers had approved the agreement last week.
Raises in the second year will be between 5 percent and 8 1/2 percent, depending on a reassessment on property values in the district, which includes sections of Des Plaines, Glenview, Morton Grove and Niles, she said.
