Last chance for Matt: Veteran fullback Matt Suhey perhaps feels a greater sense of urgency regarding Sunday night`s game against Minnesota than any other Bear. Last summer he announced he will retire at the end of this season. ”Every game from now on is very crucial for us. I`d hate to leave the way I came in, with us being a very mediocre team,” said Suhey, who was a second-round draft pick out of Penn State in 1980, the year the Bears finished 7-9.
”That would be very disappointing to me, especially because I feel we have the ability to go out and play well. That is the most frustrating part about it.”
Suhey contemplated retirement at the end of last season, but he felt the Bears had an excellent opportunity to win another Super Bowl.
”That was a very big part of my reason to come back: to end it on a good note,” said Suhey. ”Still, I`m very hopeful and counting on the fact that we will come back and play well.”
