Gary Morris
Every Christmas (Warner) (STAR)(STAR)(STAR)
This is not a country Christmas album; it is, rather, a more mainstream Christmas album, sung in the unabashedly virtuosic style expected of the never-very-abashed vocalist who sang the lead of ”Les Miserables” for six months. The majority of the songs are oldies-such as ”We Three Kings,”
”Away in a Manger,” ”Joy To The World”-most of which (”The First Noel” notably excepted) are arranged and sung brilliantly by Morris, who served as the LP`s producer. The best song is perhaps the title song, which deserves to become a classic. This is no warm, homey collection; rather it`s one in which a magnificent voice towers over the season`s snowy landscapes.
