Bolingbrook has established a uniform code of fines ranging from $50 to $250 for violations of its municipal codes and, in doing so, has eliminated a range of 12 different penalties.
Under the new regulations, a $50 fine is assessed for any violation of health regulations, including those involving garbage containers, collection of solid waste refuse, weed control, house and swimming pool maintenance and rent lease rules.
Violations of property upkeep, including sidewalks, free-standing mailboxes, excavations and tree maintenance are subject to fines of $100.
The board also agreed to levy a $250 fine for water meter tampering.
Violators may also be fined each day the offense occurs.
