A top Chrysler Corp. executive predicted the carmaker will be profitable in the first quarter. Bennett E. Bidwell, chairman of Chrysler`s Chrysler Motors unit, noted that analysts have been predicting a break-even first quarter for the carmaker. Bidwell said, ”We might do a little better than that, if not in the first quarter, certainly in the first half.” Chrysler, which also announced Wednesday that it may put air bags in its popular mini-vans next year, lost a record $664 million in the fourth quarter of 1989.
