Everyone remembers the great friendship between Frank Sinatra and Peter Lawford, two members of the infamous Rat Pack. But in her book ”The Peter Lawford Story” (Jove Books), Peter`s widow, Patricia Seaton Lawford, says it wasn`t all just a-ring-a-ding-ding between the two guys. Lawford was appalled at Sinatra`s trigger temper. He once characterized him as ”a lovable land mine-something no sturdy American household should be without.” He added:
”You may get the impression that the gentleman was a total ogre. Far from it. I mean, just because he punched a few defenseless girls, broke a few cameras belonging to news photographers in the line of duty, instigated the roughing up of a couple of parking-lot boys who didn`t park his car prominently first in the line outside the old Romanoff`s restaurant , you might get the wrong impression. But he`s not all bad.”
The lives of the rich and famous are sometimes not so different from yours and mine. Especially if they`re remodeling a house. Soap star Tristan Rogers ran into the same old problems when he was redoing his place. ”One time, when I was refurnishing my condominium, I made a decision to use a particular painter. When I came back, he had finished the job, and it looked great. But he had done a cheap job, and two years later, I had to strip the whole thing and start over. It cost me three times as much to have the job redone. Also when I was renovating my place, I made the mistake of living in it while I was doing it. It was the most miserable six months of my life.”
