Veteran referee Earl Strom made his last regular-season game the Bulls-Pistons con-test.
What will you do in retirement, Strom was asked.
`Come to games and boo the referees,” he said.
Strom also called a technical on Bulls coach Phil Jackson.
”He was feeling his oats,” said Jackson.
The Boos Brothers: The Pistons, despite their late-season slump, still feel spunky about themselves.
”We get booed a lot (on the road),” said Isiah Thomas. ”But when people boo us, it`s not just because they don`t like us. It`s a boo of respect, too, and it`s important to get that. When you`re in Boston or New York, you definitely want the big boo. If you get it, then you know you`ve arrived. Those people know their basketball. You want to get booed there.”
More Thomas: ”You best believe nobody`s out partying the night before they play us. They`re home by 10:30. They eat right and get their rest.”
A special guy: Dennis Rodman said CBS is preparing a television special on his life for the fall. He currently has ”Alexis I love you” shaped in his newest haircut.
Sub`s lament: Pistons bench-warmer Scott Hastings on his usual game: ”I get what we call a trillion. That`s when the box score reads 1 minute played followed by a row of zeros.”
