– Reed-Custer 7, Sandwich 1-Missy Nowak hurled a one-hitter (11 strikeouts, one walk) for Reed-Custer (15-3, 5-0 in the Interstate 8).

SOCCER

– Waubonsie Valley 14, Glenbard North 0-Three freshmen earned 10 goals between them: Amy Roberts (five goals), Debbie Keller (three goals, five assists) and Cheri Hooper (two goals) dominated the field. Lori Levenson earned her fourth shutout for Waubonsie (9-3).

– York 4, Glenbard East 2-Wendy Smith kicked in two goals and helped raise York`s overall record to 4-7.

GYMNASTICS

– Glenbard East Regional-Glenbard East had no trouble winning its own meet with 149.9 points to 124 for runner-up Glenbard North. ”We made a lot of minor errors, like not sticking our dismounts, but we did put a lot of degree of difficulty into our routines,” said Ram coach Steve Kafka. ”I would like for us to score somewhere in the mid-150s in the sectionals.”

The Rams, who finished fourth in the state finals last year, had first-place finishers in four of five events with Denny King winning the vault

(8.75) and high bar (8.65) and taking the all-around with an 8.05 average. Other Glenbard East firsts were by Todd Wood (8.75 in floor exercise), Naveed Bandukwala (still rings, 8.55) and Chuck Szymaniak (8.75, parallel bars).
