Robert L. Vail, 76, a retired Michigan City, Ind., bank executive, died Wednesday in St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City. A longtime Michigan City resident, Mr. Vail often dealt with Chicago-area businesses in his capacity as president of Michigan City`s First National Bank and as senior vice president of the community`s First Merchants National Bank. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Thomas J.; a daughter, Susan V. Casey; two brothers; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be in Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Andrews by the Lake Episcopal Church, Moore Road, in Michigan City. Services follow at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
