The Woodridge Village Board is considering opening a temporary dropoff recycling center.

The temporary center would be open for four years. After that, officials would decide whether to phase out the facility or construct a permanent structure.

About 50 percent of the households in Woodridge are single-family homes, which can participate in a curbside recycling program. But the remainder are multiple dwelling units where curbside recycling is not available.

Village Manager Carl Doerr said the only problem is finding a location for the center. Many residents don`t want the facility near their homes because of increased traffic flow, he said. The Village Board will vote on this issue at its next meeting July 2.
