After reading the book ”Mothers of Invention,” Gary TeGrootenhuis of Maple Grove, Minn., decided these five women were especially deserving of immortality:

1. Elizabeth Smith Miller-bloomers, 1851+

2. Rose O`Neill-Kewpie doll, 1913

3. Ruth Wakefield-chocolate chip cookies, 1933

4. Claire McCardell-stretch leotards, 1940s

5. Mary Quant-miniskirt, late 1950s

+ Named for women`s rights activist Amelia Bloomer
