The original London cast recording of Stephen Sondheim`s ”A Little Night Music,” now reissued on compact disc, is a delight. At least equal to the Broadway cast recording, this version finds precisely the right balance-point between opera and musical comedy. The great Hermione Gingold repeats her role in a cast that includes Jean Simmons and Joss Ackland. The recording is elegantly sung and sumptuously recorded. (Reviewed on CD.)
