Human League
Romantic? (A & M) (STAR)(STAR)
In the early `80s, this quirky British group swept onto the scene at the height of the technopop rage, and produced two signature songs for that era:
”Don`t You Want Me” and ”Fascination.” Nearly a decade later, those two cuts still sound more interesting than anything on this nervous, edgy album, which inexplicably delays the best dance cut (”Get It Right This Time”)
until the final track on Side 2. Also worth a listen are the single ”Heart Like a Wheel” (not the Linda Ronstadt classic) and the appealing ”Soundtrack to a Generation”; the rest is too eccentric for mainstream audiences, but not eccentric enough for fans of alternative rock.
