The way to cut the deficit is to cut congressional salaries by 50 percent, cut congressional staffs by 60 percent and reduce congressional salaries 2 percent for each year the deficit continues. Once the deficit is gone, congressional salaries could increase 25 percent, but no more!

There are only three exemptions. The first is Social Security. It should not be cut because we have paid for it already.

The second is national defense. It should not be cut because our security depends upon it and because it has been the source of many products manufactured today.

The third is Medicare. It should not be cut unless medical fees are cut by the same proportion.

All else is fair game. We could easily eliminate all foreign aid, funding of the so-called arts (NEA in particular), the superfund, a Clean Air Act and an EPA that have cost many jobs and will cost more.
