”Designing Women” (and add to that ”Men”) earned top ratings recently as Chicago`s new cultural hit of the season.
With attendance almost as high as the reviews, a first-of-its-kind
”Chicago Designs” exhibition set out to showcase the city`s finest in fashion, photography and architecture.
The Chicago Public Library Cultural Center, the scene of the gala preview reception, was itself a feast for the eyes.
Feverish flamenco guitarists, delectable delicacies and drinks, on-off and no-shouldered frocks, and the My-Kind-of-Town music of Stanley Paul melded together in a whimsical mood of festivity.
”We have it all!” said the Chicago Athenaeum`s Christian K. Laine, the show`s settings coordinator.
If all goes according to plan, they`ll be taking this show on the road to Hong Kong and Milan. ”This should put Chicago on the map,” Laine said.
The exhibit runs through Dec. 22.
