Leonard Berkowitz, 66, a former Chicago-area teacher and local basketball coach, died Thursday in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge. A longtime resident of Morton Grove, Mr. Berkowitz taught for more than two decades in the Argo-Summit Elementary School District as a physical education instructor and basketball coach. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; two sons, David and Joel Lev; two daughters, Helene Salus and Vicki Halvey; and five grandchildren. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Piser Weinstein Menorah Chapel, 9200 N. Skokie Blvd., Skokie.
