Lufthansa, the German airline, has reversed its plan to ban smoking on domestic flights.

The proposed ban, which the airline had said was supported by a large majority of passengers surveyed, apparently fell to pressure from smokers. In noting the change of plan, Lufthansa said German lawmakers had yet to pass anti-smoking legislation.

The airline also cited possible confrontations between smoking and non-smoking passengers if the rule were implemented.
