Housing completions fall: U.S. privately owned housing units were completed at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.25 million in October, the lowest since April 1983`s 1.19 million unit rate, the Commerce Department said. The rate was down 5.1 percent from September. Completions rose 0.8 percent in that month to an adjusted 1.32 million rate. October completions were down 4.6 percent from a year before. In October, single-family completions fell 6.8 percent, to an adjusted rate of 908,000; two- to four-family units fell 2.7 percent, to 35,000; units for five or more families fell 0.3 percent, to 313,000.
