The Doonesbury comic strip of Feb. 6 portrays a soldier calling a friend, asking him to tell the soldier`s girlfriend that he is fine. The next frame shows the call being interrupted by an explosion.

Editorializing and pointed political commentary are not proper subjects for a comic strip found in the comics section of a newspaper. Garry Trudeau`s insensitivity to the feelings of readers of that page-largely children-obviously knows no bounds.
