Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
In the April 27 Chicagoland section, Tribune readers were treated to an eye-catching photograph of paint washing off a wall into a city sewer during an afternoon rain shower. The photo caption read ”Down the drain.”
How witty. More important, how indicative of the Tribune`s unfathomable insensitivity to environmental concerns. Did the Tribune stop to think that paint can be toxic or that this photograph documented the Chicago sewer system being contaminated by a potentially hazardous substance?
One can only hope your readers weren`t prompted to clean out their garages and dump their unwanted paint, used motor oil and other
environmentally hazardous materials down the gutters, too.
