The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) in its June 4 Legislative Report thanked everyone who helped defeat House Bills 1 and 40. House Bill 1 would have eliminated corporal punishment in schools. House Bill 40 would have required the installation of seat safety belts and emergency escape roof hatches on new school buses.

Is it the policy of the IASB to allow kids to tumble like marbles in a clothes dryer during a school bus collision and then whack them on the behind with a paddle for not staying in their bus seats?
