A six-year veteran of the Aurora Planning Department has been named the new planning director by the City Council.

Bill Spaeth, who previously was development coordinator, will take the place of Paul Rasumssen, who resigned last month after differences with Mayor David Pierce.

Spaeth, 35, holds a bachelor`s degree in planning from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He worked for the Chicago-based architectural and planning firm, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, before being hired by Aurora six years ago.
