Michigan bank merger: First of America Bank Corp. will take over Michigan rival Security Bancorp Inc. in a $552 million deal that would put it among the nation`s 35 largest banks. The deal pushes Kalamazoo-based First of America to No. 3 in the region, which includes metropolitan Detroit, raising its deposit share to 11.2 percent from 5.7 percent.
