Robert L. Mayhercy, 73, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, died Saturday at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Lt. Col. Mayhercy, who lived in Arlington Heights, was born in Chicago. He served in the military for 24 years and was stationed at Nike Base in Arlington Heights from 1957 until retiring in 1961. He went on to head the television department at the Illinois Institute of Technology for 13 years. Survivors include his wife, Shirley;
three sons, James, Jonathan and Jeffery; one daughter, Joan Dieckmann; three grandchildren; one brother; and one sister. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, in Arlington Heights. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights, 1903 E. Euclid Ave.
