I repair a wide variety of mechanical clocks for a living, some of which were made in Japan. In my opinion, these Japanese clocks are grossly inferior in design, quality of workmanship and materials to anything made in America. This is because the clock manufacturing industry is too small to be targeted by the Japanese government.
If it isn`t an automobile or TV set, ”Made in Japan” means ”Made in Japan circa 1949.”
