Sentence cut: A federal judge halved the prison sentence of a former senior vice president of First National Bank of Chicago who was the central figure in a series of multimillion-dollar kickback schemes lasting more than a decade. U.S. District Judge Ilana Rovner last month sentenced Jeffrey Tassani to 5 years in prison with the expectation that he would serve 20 months. However, Tassani would have spent about 40 months behind bars with that sentence. Accordingly, the sentence was cut to 2 1/2 years.
