Wauconda Mayor James Keagle said he will veto a plan for the Parkview Townhouses development ”if it comes in the way it is now.”

Keagle said street width design in the development on North Main Street at Garland Road ”goes against our ordinance. I realize we had indicated to the developers that we might allow such sizes, but (approval would) set a precedent for other developments.”

The Village Board last month had approved annexation and rezoning of the 10.96-acre site to permit construction of 93 townhouses. Included in the approval was acceptance of developer Michael Prate`s plans for 20-foot pavement widths. Earlier the Plan Commission had voted unanimously to require wider streets.

The board met with Prate Monday night and will do so again at 7:30 p.m. next Monday.
