An article in the Jan. 12 business section reported that as of September 1990, Japanese companies built 1,433 manufacturing plants in the United States, with the first a Sony plant back in 1971.
It seems, therefore, that our country offers market opportunities that are highly appealing to those Japanese with venture capital. So what are their American counterparts doing, outside of risking their money in a volatile stock market?
