I read with great interest a small item that appeared in the Jan. 16 Chicagoland section regarding student interns working in aldermanic offices. I participated in such a program through Loyola University my senior year and enjoyed working for then-Ald. Clifford P. Kelly.
The strength of these programs allows the student to gain practical political experience and knowledge that cannot be duplicated in the classroom. I encourage Ald. Mazola`s efforts to involve more schools and students to participate in such programs. The experience gained from my internship was the most valuable of my college years.
