Since our president`s trip to the Far East, protectionists scream to buy American products to save jobs. These people forget the simple economic principle of price, quality and location that any consumer uses to purchase goods.
I used that principle back in 1986 to purchase a new vehicle. I had my third General Motors product and it was a lemon just like the second. I searched the market; Nissan had the product I wanted on the lot and built in Tennessee. I purchased the Nissan and have had fun driving it for the last five years and hope it lasts another five.
I rewarded Nissan with my business for meeting my needs and punished GM stockholders, directors, top executives, white and blue collar workers for not attempting to satisfy my needs and for producing junk.
The Big Three automakers still have a way to go. I hope the CEOs spend more time understanding consumers than calculating their stock options and salary.
