I can think of nothing that has irritated me as much as the recent hand-wringing and finger-pointing during the president`s trip to Japan. The Japanese people`s only crime has been to create quality goods, at a reasonable price, with a great deal of pride.

The unions in our country, on the other hand, have insisted on unreasonable contracts that make little or no economic sense. Our U.S. corporate management has lacked the backbone to stand up to them, but together they make a great team when it comes to verbally bashing their competition. Now the politicians hop on this misguided bandwagon to help their own cause.

Ask any independent businessman, private tradesman or farmer what happens when work is shoddy, and they`ll tell you they go out of business.
