Two people accused of shoplifting were arrested in separate incidents Tuesday, Elgin police said.

Dorothy J. Turner, 18, of 1285 Fleetwood Drive, Elgin, was arrested at Venture, 450 Airport Rd. She was charged with leaving the store without paying for two belts worth $8. Turner was stopped outside the store by a Venture employee and held for police. She is to appear in Kane County Circuit Court Feb. 14 on the misdemeanor charge.

In another incident, Heriberto J. Berumen, 22, of 292 Skyline Drive, Carpentersville, was charged with not paying for an $8 set of socket wrenches at K mart, 1615 Dundee Ave. He was detained by a store employee until police arrived.

Berumen was given a Feb. 28 court date.
