I couldn`t agree more with Frank James` Jan. 18 article about overreaction by the electronic media to winter in Chicago (”Chicagoans no winter wimps, even during a media blizzard”).

The ”disaster alert” of a snowstorm or sub-zero temperatures is ludicrous to native Chicagoans. The unfortunate part is many radio stations, trying to be first with the worst, continually give out the wind chill temperature and never get around to reporting the actual temperature.

Could it be that their listeners would be dumb enough to go out naked in the middle of winter if no one told them the wind would be cold on their uncovered skin?

Maybe the television and radio stations should hire a Chicagoan to sit on the set with their carpetbagger journalists to tell them that snow and cold ain`t news in Chicago in winter.
