Presidents` Day, commemorating the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln on Feb. 12, 1809, and George Washington on Feb. 22, 1732, is a state and federal holiday. The following public services are affected Monday, when the holiday will be observed this year:
– Schools: Public schools in Chicago, Cook and Du Page Counties will be closed; public schools in Will, McHenry and Kane Counties will be open; Lake County and parochial schools will follow individual schedules.
– Government offices: Federal, state, county and city offices closed.
– Postal service: No mail delivery.
– Courts: All federal and county courts will be closed except for Holiday Court in Will and Cook Counties.
– Banks, S&Ls: Most closed.
– Financial markets: Closed.
– Parking: Normal weekday regulations in effect, including parking meter fees. – Transit: Normal weekday service.
