Students and their families are invited to explore new scientific and engineering frontiers at the eighth annual Du Page Area Engineers` Week program from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Illinois Institute of Technology`s Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Campus in Wheaton.
The program, ”Engineering-It`s Everywhere,” will include 16 interactive exhibits and displays by professional technology experts and educators, along with such fun activities as a paper-glider contest.
Project Phoenix, a macro solution to global warming, designed by Illinois Institute of Technology faculty and students, will be discussed by keynote speaker IIT professor Charles Owen, at 12:30 and 2:15 p.m. Project Phoenix was one of 10 grand winners of Popular Science magazine`s ”Top 100 Greatest Achievements in Science and Technology for 1991.”
IIT`s Rice Campus is at 201 E. Loop Rd., northeast of Butterfield and Naperville Roads, in Wheaton. The program is open to the public at no charge, but pre-registration is requested. Call 708-682-6008 for registration and information.
