Mike Royko`s disturbing story of a street kid named Jawon, already on his own at 14 and already with a police record, threatening to blow away people who get in his way, should be made mandatory reading for the legislators of our state and city who must do something to stop kids like Jawon from having easy access to sophisticated weaponry.
How about making a law giving law enforcement officers the right to arrest anyone 21 or younger found carrying a gun of any kind and the right to confiscate the weapon? After all, we have a law regulating the drinking age of youths. Surely a gun is more instantly lethal than a glass of beer.
