Gunmen held up two Chicago-area banks Tuesday afternoon in separate incidents, one of them escaping from a South Side bank with at least $100,000, authorities said.
A gunman entered Southwest Financial Bank and Trust, 9901 S. Western Ave., about 2 p.m. and forced two employees into a room where he taped and bound them, said Morgan Park District Lt. Dave Dougherty. Police would not disclose the amount taken in the robbery but indicated it was in the six figures.
A half-hour later, a different man robbed a South Holland bank. The man entered Thornridge State Bank, 901 E. Sibley Blvd., and demanded money from a teller, saying he had a gun. The teller handed over an undetermined amount of money, according to the FBI.
