Wines and recipes from Italy`s Piedmont region will be paired in a six-course, five-wine dinner at 7 p.m. Mondayat Spasso restaurant, 614 W. Liberty St., Wauconda.
The wines include cortese di gavi, barberi, barbaresco and barolo produced by Michele Chiarlo. Chef Andrew Webber`s menu includes breast of capon salad, pheasant and porcini mushroom-filled ravioli and beef braised in barolo. The evening is priced at $50 a person, plus tax and tip. – Shaw`s Crab House, 21 E. Hubbard St., will celebrate the opening of the wild chinook salmon fishing season on the Columbia River with two winemakers` dinners featuring producers from Oregon. Tuesday,Myron Redford of Amity Vineyard will present his wines. Thursday,the presenter will be Marilyn Webb of Bethel Heights Vineyard. Guests reserving tables between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. will meet winemaker and chef Yves Roubaud. Two white wines are served with the first courses and three pinot noirs with the salmon.
