A staff report by the Federal Communications Commission recommended that a single company be allowed to acquire as many radio stations in a city as it wants until it has 25 percent of the audience. Under current law, an owner is limited to one AM station and one FM station in a market. The report, prepared by Roy J. Stewart, chief of the commission`s mass media bureau, also calls for raising the limit on the total number of radio stations an owner can have to as many as 200 stations from the current 12 AM and 12 FM. The proposals still may be amended by the commission.
