Des Plaines City Council members will consider a no-confidence vote Thursday on City Atty. Judith Kolman and Corporation Counsel Burton Odelson.

Opponents of Mayor Michael Albrecht have considered firing the city`s top two lawyers several times in the last year beacause of allegations that they give advice in favor of Albrecht and run up large legal tabs for Odelson.

Albrecht has stood by the lawyers, saying they have done nothing wrong and are strong and well-respected representatives of the city.

No-confidence votes against the lawyers have been taken before. The lawyers survived each time, either because the council is evenly divided between pro- and anti-Albrecht aldermen or because a compromise was reached.

Ald. Carl P. Haupt, who called Thursday`s committee-of-the-whole meeting, said he will not settle for a compromise this time because previous promises were not met.
