A Chicago Fire Department paramedic, out on $75,000 bond for allegedly raping a woman last week, was behind bars again Thursday, charged with two December home invasions in Lincoln Park.
Jay Katz, 28, of 6247 N. Troy St. was charged Thursday with two counts of home invasion and one count of attempted criminal sexual assault, said Belmont Area Detective David Ryan.
Katz was identified by the women in a lineup.
Katz had been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault April 3 after he allegedly entered a 18-year-old woman`s North Side home and raped her.
The new charges stem from attacks that took place the morning of Dec. 4 in apartment buildings located a block apart, Ryan said. Katz posed as an exterminator to gain access to the women`s apartments, Ryan said, and after pretending to spray the apartment, Katz would attack the women.
The women were able to scare him off by screaming and striking him, Ryan said.
In the incident involving the 18-year-old, Katz, while on-duty last month, took the woman to a hospital, according to prosecutors. He returned to her apartment April 3 and posed as an exterminator to gain access, prosecutors said. After being let in, Katz allegedly lured her to the bathroom and sexually assaulted her, officials said.
