Elgin 4, Lake Park 2-Elgin (4-1-1, 2-1 in the Upstate Eight) scored all four runs in the second inning. The big blow was a two-run single by Frank Holden. Rick Raciak (3-0) struck out five in going the distance.

Elgin St. Edward 16, St. Francis 0-John Pellikan earned the win and pounded out three hits for St. Edward (6-2, 2-0 in the Suburban Catholic Conference). Justin Relihan and Jason Phillip each scored three runs for St. Edward.

Glenbard East 9, Plainfield 7-With the tying runs on first and second in the seventh, Brian Schweihs struck out the side to nail down the win for Glenbard East (3-2). Tim Clifford paced the offense with three hits and three RBI`s.

Glenbard South 12, Glenbard West 2-Paul Peterson (3 for 4), John Williams (2 for 3) and Brian Birt (2 for 3) each knocked in three runs for Glenbard South (3-1).

Larkin 11, Waubonsie Valley 8-Doug Zywiciel had two hits, including a three-run homer, and drove in five runs for Larkin (4-2, 2-1 in the Upstate Eight). Shaun Palmer and Chad Schroeder each added two hits.

Lisle 10, Plano 0-Dennis Runshas had two doubles and two RBI`s to support the pitching of Brian Krol for Lisle (4-3, 1-2 in the Interstate Eight).

Maine West 4, Fenton 3-Dan Meyers struck out eight and allowed just two hits over seven innings to earn the win for Maine West (1-2). John Langan had two hits and scored a run.

Quigley 13, St. Gregory 7-Joaquin Salamanca struggled on the mound (10 hits allowed, four walks) but earned the win and helped himself at the plate with two hits, including a two-run homer, and three RBIs for Quigley (3-1, 3-0 in the Chicagoland Prep).

Ridgewood 12, Steinmetz 0-Eric Johnson tossed a six-inning no-hitter and Ron Melendez knocked in a pair of runs as Ridgewood (12-0) stayed unbeaten.
