Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The April 14 letters were awfully hard on Elvis. One called the Post Office`s plan to honor Elvis with a stamp a disgrace, asking ”What service did he perform for mankind that he deserves the honor to be put on a U.S. stamp?” Another urged people to vote for the ”plump Presley” stamp, but only to ”remind Americans alcohol and other drug use can be fatal.” And yet another coldly offered, ”The party in question was certainly no role model for our young people.”

Here`s an idea that might make them feel better. Listen to the definitive Elvis collection, ”The Top Ten Hits,” a compilation of every song Elvis recorded that made it into the Top 10 chart-38 in all. If, after that hour and a half of bliss, your ears are still closed and your hearts are still hard, feel free to take some more shots at the dead King. Probably, though, you`ll be happy to have as much of him around as possible, if only an image on a 29- cent stamp.
